Sustainability
Nanoco are conscious of our responsibility to the people, environment and communities in which we operate. A long standing advocate of removing toxic cadmium from quantum dots, our commitment to our environmental impact is one of the building blocks of the company.
Whilst we are still relatively small, we are continuing to develop our policies and procedures to place more emphasis and focus on our sustainability. Given the profile of the company, our primary importance is to the health and safety of our stakeholders.
Our approach to sustainability is a top down approach, ensuring we have the correct governance in place to enable change, whilst also being mindful of the emerging risks and opportunities from sustainability for the business.
Sustainability Oversight
The Board of Directors has ultimate responsibility for the development of The Group’s ESG strategy. This includes the monitoring of both financial and non-financial risks and opportunities relating to ESG and sustainability, which are embedded into The Group’s risk register and reviewed on a periodic basis.
The CFO has responsibility for the sustainability actions, which includes compliance with TCFD reporting requirements, with day to day management delegated to The Group’s ESG Committee, which comprises team members from different parts of the business, including the CFO. The ESG Committee, which was formed in 2023, has an ongoing remit to:
- Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 14001 (environmental management systems);
- Review the risks and opportunities associated with sustainability, and identify mitigating actions;
- Develop ESG objectives and implement action plans to achieve these to help The Group achieve their sustainability goals.
Nanoco are currently working on our ESG strategy which we hope to announce and implement in calendar year 2024.
