Nanoco Shows the Power of Cadmium-free Quantum Dots in Multiple Applications at CES 2019

Published on 3/1/2019

It’s that time of year again! CES 2019 is quickly approaching (January 8-11), and Nanoco is excited to display its latest advancements in Cadmium-free Quantum Dots for TV, gaming monitors, and other advanced applications.

As we’ve seen at CES over the last few years, quantum dots continue to disrupt the high-end TV market, given their ability to produce more beautiful, vibrant color than traditional LCDs, high energy efficiency, and cost competitiveness compared to OLED technologies. And now, quantum dots are increasingly being applied to gaming monitors to deliver the superior accuracy, no-blur performance and color representation the gaming market demands.

Because quantum dots transfer light into precise color, these tiny semiconductors are a true platform technology with the amazing ability to be applied to other diverse industries such as lighting, medical imaging, life sciences, and more.

Gaming Comes to LIfe

In its suite at CES, Nanoco will be demonstrating two gaming monitors and a TV prototype, each retrofitted with Nanoco’s Cadmium-free Quantum Dots, and armed with the latest specifications that modern technology has to offer. From state-of-the-art 4K Ultra-high-definition (UHD) resolution to frame rates of up to 144hz, each of these devices has been creatively designed and finely tuned to scream the word “innovation.”

Embedded with NANOCO CFQD FINE COLOR FILM, both gaming monitors bring gaming, video and movie streaming, online shopping, photos, and design to a whole new level of fast and accurate color conversion and energy-saving brightness. This especially enables the life-like color performance that gamers demand.

Shining a Light on Therapeutics

Brand new this year, Nanoco will showcase its innovative quantum dot technology in the wearable therapeutics space. CareWear, a top leader in light therapy has engineered a device that improves athletic performance by reducing physical pain and joint stiffness while accelerating recovery. Once applied to your skin the device uses miniature LED lights along with Nanoco Cadmium-free Quantum Dot film, producing a particular spectra that has been scientifically proven to aid athletic performance and bruise recovery. The device has already been trialed by professional sports teams, showing much promise for future mainstream use.

Cadmium-free Quantum Dots for Sustainable Plant Growth

Also featured at CES this year will be Nanoco’s CFQD Grow Lights, harnessing the power of Nanoco’s Deep-Red CFQD film to assist in the propagation and vegetative stages of plant growth for sustainable indoor farming. Nanoco’s cadmium-free quantum dots in LED grow lights can be easily fine-tuned to the desired color simply by adjusting their size. This gives lighting manufacturers an efficient and cost-effective way to tailor their lighting solutions to further enhance chlorophyll absorption peaks and ensure healthier, higher-yielding plants such as basil and lettuce.

Nanoco’s Grow Lights dramatically improve indoor farming — specifically, vertical farming — by maximizing efficiency throughout each step of the process. The benefits: Vertical farming saves limited shelf space; plants are safe from the natural elements outside. Nanoco Grow Lights can also be adjusted to match the exact needs of the plant, ensuring no light is wasted during the process while dramatically increasing the speed at which the plants grow. Topping it off, the lights have a dispersing effect, which allows them to be placed very close to the plants without overheating or damaging them.
